Seedar– Drying, Cleaning and Adding Value
At the bitterly cold LAMMA show this week we were consistently hearing a very clear message from mobile grain drier owners. It was along the lines of “my drier has paid for itself this year alone”. As a Farmers Weekly article this Friday shows it isn’t difficult to work out why.
Bushel weights may be improved by between 5 to 8 kg/hl through the use of a recirculating grain drier such as the Seedar. At LAMMA some farmers even reported increases nearly as high as 10kg/hl on particularly poor samples. This cleaning has helped crops avoid bushel weight penalties and in some cases secure milling premiums. When these savings are stacked against the relative running cost of the drier, it really looks like a no-brainer. The rough calculation in Farmers Weekly illustrates this quite clearly, the saving of a crop achieving a milling premium less the running costs very nearly equates to the value of a brand new grain drier.
With this kind of return on investment possible it is not surprising that mobile grain driers are high on the shopping list at LAMMA. The final consideration is how long is your grain drier going to be able to do this, this is where the durability and reliability of the Seedar comes into its own. With highly specified wearing parts, clever auger design and oversized transmissions the Seedar can deliver more consistent performance with less maintenance over longer periods of time. The longer the service life of your grain drier investment the greater your returns.
