Why did you invest in a mobile grain drier?
The new drier replaced our previous 10 year old mobile drier.
Why did you go for a Seedar?
Build quality and direct drive to centre auger rather than belts & pulleys along with troublesome bearings. It is also useful to be able to remove gearbox with full load if necessary.
What type of drier did you buy?
Went for a 25 tonne drier which we felt was the biggest capacity that we could move between four farms without too much hassle. Totally mobile. Also have a dust extraction system on it.
How does the drier fit into your grain storage set-up?
We use concrete shed floors for temporary storage only. After it is dried it is put into sealed tower silos or sold.
How has harvest 2010 gone and what role did the drier play?
This year we dried everything that came off 700 acres and also contracted some tonnage out too.
